About the role
We are seeking a Scientific Officer who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:
1. Perform manual and automated diagnostic testing
2. Performing all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection
3. Assisting with Stock Control
4. Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
5. Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols
6. Maintaining current scientific knowledge
7. Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities
8. Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
9. Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
10. AIMS certification as a Medical Scientist if your degree was acquired overseas
11. Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline
12. Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
13. Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
14. Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
15. An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
16. A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
17. A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
18. Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
19. The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
20. Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
21. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
22. This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases
