Provide research assistance for an exciting Hydrostratigraphy Project at CDU
About the Position
As a Research Assistant/ Research Associate in Hydrogeology you will work as part of the ‘Western Davenport Hydrostratigraphy Project”, funded by the National Water Grid Authority, via the Northern Territory Government. The research undertaken through the project will utilise groundwater data including, but not limited to, groundwater levels, major ion chemistry and radioisotopes.
You will be involved in quantitative research through the collection of field data, the collation and preparation of pre-existing datasets, data analyses, and the management of project finance and where relevant, you will also contribute to the preparation of research reports and scientific manuscripts.
About You
Depending on your experience you will be appointed as either a Research Assistant or a Research Associate
To be successful as a Research Assistant you will require:
1. Some experience with handling, analysis and interpretation of major ion chemistry and groundwater tracers (e.g., to estimate water sources, age/residence times)
2. Demonstrated ability to assist with the production of high-quality groundwater interpretations
3. Experience with computer scripting, or a willingness to learn
4. Demonstrated ability to produce scientific reports.
To be successful as a Research Associate you will require:
5. Extensive experience with handling, analysis and interpretation of major ion chemistry and groundwater tracers (e.g., to estimate water sources, age/residence times)
6. Experience in remote area fieldwork, including the collection of water samples
Demonstrated ability to produce high quality groundwater interpretations
7. Experience with computer scripting
8. Demonstrated ability to publish scientific research in international journals.

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Research Focused Academic Level A and the base salary will be in the range of $71,277 to $106,933 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $83,394 to $125,111 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
