In this role, your focus would be to drive assets through the development phase, managing the Planning and Environmental Approvals process for a diverse range of renewable energy projects, including utility-scale solar, storage, and hybrid projects. This would suit an environmental planner with a proven track record of working with developers on large-scale renewable energy projects. The Role: In this pivotal position, you will be responsible for overseeing the Planning and Environmental Approvals process, and so your deep understanding of environmental regulations, experience in securing development approvals and managing relationships with government authorities. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are developed smoothly and successfully. Key Responsibilities: Lead the planning and environmental approvals process for utility-scale solar, storage, and hybrid projects. Conduct environmental assessments and site evaluations to support project approvals. Engage with government planning authorities and consultants to secure positive project outcomes. Coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring projects are ready for handover to construction. Provide mentorship to junior team members, particularly in Planning and Environmental aspects. Monitor project spending, identifying and reporting any deviations for management attention. Build strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and environmental consultants. About You: From 3 years experience as an environmental planner working for developers in the renewable energy sector. In-depth knowledge of environmental approvals processes and state regulations for renewable energy projects in Australia (experience across multiple states is a plus). A proven ability to navigate the full development lifecycle, from site origination to project operations. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental planning, engineering, or a related discipline. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams. Project management qualifications and Australian OHS experience are desirable.
