Purpose of the role
This role will be part of a newly created Procurement team that will oversee all procurement within Auto & General.
The Senior Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the procurement process for technology-related products and services. The aim is to ensure that technology outsourcing activities deliver optimal commercial outcomes across the Group's business functions. This role involves guiding business units to meet both commercial and regulatory requirements while aligning outsourcing activities with the overall business strategy. The Senior Procurement Specialist will provide expertise in all aspects of the procurement process, including planning, sourcing, decision-making, implementation, and governance.
The role
* Guide business units on the end-to-end technology procurement process, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory policies and procedures.
* Play a key role in complex negotiations and contract finalisation processes to ensure effective contract and financial management that supports the organisation’s strategic objectives.
* Utilise tools and techniques to profile, benchmark, research, and assess the technology market, including risks, competition, trends, and emerging opportunities.
* Assist in compiling and analysing internal and external technology supplier performance surveys, providing timely and relevant information to management teams to facilitate improved decision-making and support supplier performance reviews.
* Support the list of preferred technology suppliers and contribute to exploring new opportunities.
* Ensure procurement outcomes are achieved efficiently and effectively, supporting the delivery of the organisation’s strategic initiatives and business plan.
* Aid in updating and maintaining the contract register database.
* Administer and ensure the timely submission of all technology procurement documentation.
* Drive successful outcomes throughout the procurement process, including planning, sourcing, decision-making, implementation, and ongoing governance of supplier relationships.
* Partner effectively with business and external stakeholders to ensure end-to-end technology procurement is completed fully and on time.
* Support and assist in improving the technology procurement framework and related business policies and procedures.
What experience you’ll bring
* Knowledge of technology procurement desirable, but not essential.
* Understanding of relevant regulatory requirements, e.g. CPS230/234
* Proven experience in directing and supporting the end-to-end procurement process.
* Demonstrated expertise in commercial negotiations specific to procurement.
* Ability to identify and engage strong suppliers, working collaboratively to enhance value delivered to the organisation.
* Experience in managing vendor analysis and cost reduction initiatives to boost procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
* Ideally possess 3-5 years of experience in a procurement role within the financial services or insurance sectors.
* Strong conceptual, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
* High-level communication, business relationship management, and organisational skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the capacity to engage effectively with all organisational levels, from executives to front-line staff.
* Well-developed organisational and administrative skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively (with supervision).
* Demonstrated effectiveness in teamwork, including the ability to review and enhance workplace practices and business processes.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritising tasks.
* Build and maintain controls to ensure goals are achieved.
