About Us
The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness, and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, and remote and swiftwater rescue, supporting community safety outcomes.
The QFD is committed to reframing the department's relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through activities identified in the QFD Reframing the Relationship Plan.
Purpose of the role
Building and Property Operations leads the department's building, property, and facilities management functions to ensure assets are fit for purpose, available, and accessible to support departmental and operational requirements. As the Principal Property Officer, you will work collaboratively with key stakeholders and suppliers to coordinate day-to-day building functions, ensuring safety and functionality of all facilities.
Key requirements Highly Desirable Requirements Minimum C class drivers licence (non-restricted).Proven Facilities Management experience, preferably within a complex facilities environment.Demonstrated experience in contractor management, procurement, and contract preparation, administration and management.Knowledge and experience of project management methodologies and their application in a facilities management environment.High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to negotiate effectively.Special requirement This role may require work to be performed out-of-business hours in response to crisis management.Your key accountabilities Responsibilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department will see you responsible for:
Manage suppliers, contracts, and contractors for the delivery of building and facility maintenance.Provide high-level advice and recommendations to key stakeholders.Develop, implement, and maintain effective administrative systems, policies, and procedures.Maintain knowledge of the requirements under the Workplace Health and Safety Act (2011).Promote a continuous improvement philosophy.Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.Research, prepare, and review reports, briefs, and submissions.Manage a small multi-disciplinary team, fostering positive teamwork.Capabilities Role
