ID: 237778Job Type: Full-time What to Expect We are seeking an experienced Sr. Environmental Specialist to join our EHS team in the APAC region. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental, waste, and recycling strategies along with involvement in chemical and environmental reporting programs to ensure compliance with regional regulations and waste minimization. This role will play a critical part in supporting Tesla's growth in the APAC region, particularly in the areas of waste management, recycling, environmental compliance and data collection.This position reports to the Sr. Environmental Manager and will ensure the highest of Environmental standards are met and sustained across EHS. The position will work closely with Global collaboration teams, management, associates, vendors, and the EHS team and will drive and support continuous improvement throughout Tesla's Energy operations.This position is based in Melbourne or Sydney, Australia and will require travel, given the geographical reach of the business. What You'll Do Develop and implement comprehensive environmental and waste recycling strategies and programs to ensure compliance with regional regulations and minimize waste.Develop and implement plans to ensure compliance with extended producer responsibilities (EPR) regulations, including regional waste certifications and other regional requirements, and collaborate with regional teams to ensure compliance.Enhance regional battery and other hazardous and non-hazardous recycling strategies and programs to ensure compliance with regional regulations and identify and implement cost-effective and environmentally responsible battery recycling solutions in collaboration with regional teams.Enhance regional end of life (EOL) recycling strategies and programs for Tesla products and collaborate with regional teams to ensure effective and efficient implementation.Ensure environmental permitting needs are met, development and assurance of Construction Environmental Management Plans.Develop and implement Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), based on APAC regulations.Ensure accurate and timely collecting and reporting environmental data, including waste, energy, and water usage, and collaborate with regional teams and suppliers to verify.Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies to inform customers, financiers, waste management suppliers, and other stakeholders about Tesla's waste recycling practices and policies and collaborate with regional teams to ensure effective and efficient engagement.Develop and implement comprehensive environmental emergency response plans, including protocols for hazardous chemical spills, spills in transit, and clean-up and disposal procedures, and educate contractors and frontline staff on response preparedness. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Engineering, and/or a related field.Minimum 5 years of experience in waste recycling and management, preferably in the energy, automotive, or manufacturing sector.Proven experience in developing and implementing waste recycling strategies and programs.Strong working knowledge in data management and reporting for chemical or environmental programs.Strong knowledge of regional regulations and standards related to waste recycling and management.Excellent written, verbal communication and project management skills.Strong interpersonal skills, great attention to detail, problem-solving skills, multi-tasking, prioritizing, and working in a highly fast-paced environment, and a demonstrated ability to perform duties independently and remotely with minimal supervision.Expert in MS Office 365 Suite, including SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
