Purpose for this role We're looking for a talented freelance writer with a passion for, and deep understanding of, Sydney's food and drink scenes to help drive our organic content output.
Your job will be to deliver inspiring content that sorts the signal from the noise and helps Concrete Playground's audience to elevate their play.
The City Writer will have great instincts for finding the strongest possible angle and most engaging headline, and will deftly deliver news and events content in a timely manner, so stories have the maximum impact when they find our audience.
Desired outcomes Write and edit fresh, relevant, informative and audience-first digital content, and publish this to Concrete Playground's website, social media and e-newsletter channels.Juggle news with multiple competing deadlines so all content is delivered in a timely fashion to our readers.Promote and repurpose content efficiently across our multi-platform ecosystem to ensure the best possible results.Fastidiously fact-check and subedit all content, making images, text, video and links work together as a happy whole.Track and evaluate analytics to inform decisions and drive growth in traffic and engagement.Maintain a network of contacts that you can tap into to stay on top of the latest in what's happening in Sydney and beyond.Technical competencies: Experience working with Wordpress, social platforms and analytics tools.
A sound knowledge of social media best practices.
A proficient sub-editor with a great eye.Cultural competencies: As someone who closely follows the news and inherently understands the cultural landscape of cities, you're passionate about the things we're passionate about: food, drink, travel, leisure, lifestyle, technology and urban affairs.Professional competencies: A creative and strategic self-starter, you're highly organised, efficient and comfortable working remotely.
