Responsibilities:The Food Technologist is responsible for the development, validation, implementation, maintenance, and verification of the HACCP based food safety and quality plan and encouraging a positive food safety and quality culture. The Food Technologist may approve food product for release.Tasks:The review and maintenance of the HACCP Quality and Food Safety program which includes the requirements of Food Safety and Quality Codes, Halal requirements.Assist in the development and maintenance of a positive food safety and quality culture in food manufacturing industry.Take appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the HACCP Quality and Food Safety program.Ensure compliance with Halal Certification requirements.Report any breaches or potential food hazards to the SQF Practitioner and/or Directors immediately.Monitor compliance with HACCP Quality and Food Safety program and documentation procedures.In conjunction with the SQF Practitioner and Directors, communicate the current SQF requirements to relevant personnel.Ensure all food handling staff are adequately trained and are aware of the personal hygiene, GMP, HACCP, Halal requirements of the tasks they are performing. Monitor and report on staff competency and identify areas of training opportunity.Promptly inform Production Director/SQF Practitioner and Operations Director about matters that may affect the operation of the plant and Food Safety or Quality matters.Qualification skills and Experience:The Food Technologist has a minimum of a 4-year Food Science & Technology degree, and experience in quality assurance and the maintenance of the HACCP based food safety and quality plans. The candidate understands the Food Safety and Quality Codes to maintain the HACCP based food safety and quality plans.The candidate understands the following:The HACCP based SQF food safety & quality program requirements.Recommending and taking appropriate corrective and preventative actions when deviations occur.Personal hygiene and good manufacturing practices.Critical Control Points (CCPs) and corrective action methods.Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Review compliance of product to CCPs prior to release of product.Experience in customer complaint handling regarding any internal or external non-compliance.Micro-swarming for validation of pre- and post-operational checks.Managerial skills with strong Food safety knowledge for leading product handling team.Excellent communication skills, with a hands-on approach for technical audit preparation.Salary Range: $87,000 to $90,000 p.a
