1. 12-month parental leave contract opportunity
The Sydney Morning Herald Sports Reporter role will be a key position, combining breaking news, analysis and feature-writing capability at the highest-level.
The successful candidate will be an experienced journalist, with a good range of contacts and the ability to write with confidence across a number of sports.
Day to day you will:
2. Deliver unique, high-quality coverage for the daily and weekly news cycle
3. Attend live matches, press conferences and events as required
4. React quickly to breaking news stories, including under deadline pressure
5. Demonstrate excellent news judgement and knowledge of issues in the round and in the wider community
6. Ensure all copy meets legal requirements, and the highest standard of accuracy, ethics and editorial quality
Qualifications
What we would like to see on your resume:
7. Demonstrated journalist experience (sport writing is highly regarded)
8. Genuine interest and knowledge in writing about sport
9. An understanding of different ways of engaging our audiences, particularly in digital
10. An abundance of ideas, energy and the ability to work well as part of a team
11. Excellent writing skill s.
