About the Role
You will effectively deliver an accountable, effective and culturally strong service to reduce the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the child protection system. You will also provide independent support to families when child protection concerns are reported for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander child or young person with the goal of securing the safety of the children and the family’s participation in decision making.
Duties
* Provide independent facilitation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family-led decision making.
* Enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to participate in decision making about them and their children.
* Facilitate family-led decision making from early in the child protection continuum.
* Support self-determination and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle.
* Assist families to understand Child Safety processes and the safety concerns held by Child Safety (where applicable).
* Provide support to families to enable them to have active input to decisions.
* Conducting family mapping to identify family members who could support the resolution of safety concerns or maintain the child’s cultural and family connections.
* Facilitating family planning sessions in preparation for a family-led decision making meeting.
* Facilitating formal family-led decision making processes, ensuring all participants can contribute to the family plan.
* Linking families with the support services they need to implement and sustain the family plan.
* Cultivating effective working relationships across all levels, which encourage the growth of both internal and external connections, promote collaboration, trust, and respect, embrace diversity, and provide guidance, mentoring, and a focus on staff development.

* Starting Salary of $86,000 per annum (depending on qualification and experience) + 11.5% Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging (Increases your take home pay).

COVID-19 Requirements
* Immunization history showing you have received two doses of a Covid 19 vaccine is encouraged.
Required
* Current Bachelor’s Degree, in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention or Criminology with 2 years’ relevant experience in social services field.
OR
* Current Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, Child and Family Intervention with 3 years’ relevant experience in social service field.
AND
* With at least 1 year of abovementioned experience in a case management role.
* Demonstrated ability and comfortableness working in a performance driven environment to meet individual weekly, monthly and quarterly performance targets.
* Demonstrated ability to build client agency, self-efficacy and facilitate change through client empowerment, while actively discouraging client dependence on supports.
* Demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide brief behaviour change interventions that build client self-awareness and active change in achieving their identified goals.
* Demonstrated ability to work with the whole-of-family, irrespective of primary client, in meeting the totality of family needs.
* Demonstrated ability in coordinating multiple services in providing access to holistic care for clients, particularly integrating internal agency supports across multiple teams.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the factors contributing to vulnerability, disengagement, and intergenerational trauma of client group.
* Experience with case management for high risk and/or crisis clients, with high-level planning and organisational skills.
* Knowledge of the supports available to target clients in the areas of mental health, substance misuse, education, employment and housing.
Additional Requirements
* Requirement to travel across the Logan and/or Brisbane region, as per program location.
* Current drivers’ licence.
* Valid police check.
* Requirement to work outside core 9am-5pm business hours in meeting individual client needs and provide responsive care.
