About The Role
Full time – Ongoing (Bendigo)
The Loddon Mallee Hume region covers 22 municipalities across northern Victoria, including the regional cities of Bendigo, Mildura, Shepparton, and Wodonga. It also includes Alpine Resorts and features significant tourist destinations like the Victorian snow fields and Murray River. The region services the vast expanse of northern Victoria and considers a diverse range of transport needs and challenges.
The Movement & Safety team works in partnership with stakeholders and communities located across Loddon Mallee Hume Region to explore, develop, and deliver solutions that move people and goods efficiently and safely while being sensitive to the needs and importance of enhancing key destinations and places across Victoria.
Position Outcomes
* Work closely with stakeholders and the community to explore problems and develop solutions to achieve outcomes aligned with organisational objectives.
* Communicate clearly and engage on understanding problems and providing constructive advice, tailoring communication to meet customer and stakeholder needs in a timely manner.
* Apply principles of relevant Acts, standards, and regulations and make decisions in response to moderately complex transport and safety matters while identifying opportunities to innovate and make lives better.
* Make decisions under broad supervision, and within agreed timeframes, that are aligned with Safe System principles and the Movement & Place framework.
* Work in a team, demonstrating behaviours consistent with a constructive work culture including actively seeking and acting on feedback.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and collaborative team member who demonstrates strong foundational skills in stakeholder management, critical thinking, and problem-solving. The ideal candidate will be responsive to clients' needs, keeping them informed on developments and promptly addressing inquiries or concerns. They will show the ability to resolve challenges by applying policy and process guidelines while contributing ideas that enhance critical thinking and problem-solving. The role also requires the ability to influence and persuade through logical arguments, supported by facts and examples. A focus on partnering and co-creation is essential, as the candidate will work closely with customers and communities to design effective strategies and solutions. They must possess strong interpersonal skills, being considerate and professional in all interactions, while being aware of the emotional impact of their communication. Additionally, the ideal candidate will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by proposing ideas for greater efficiency and maintaining high standards of quality even under pressure.
Qualifications And Experience
Mandatory
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work well within a team to achieve positive outcomes.
Desirable
* Experience relevant to the capabilities of the role.
* Experience in traffic engineering and/or road safety.
* A relevant tertiary qualification.
