The key duties and responsibilities of this role include:Lead stakeholder engagement across the nominated industry sector/s and the development of strategic partnerships with employers, small business and industry stakeholders.Lead the establishment and management of a range of industry skilling and workforce development projects and initiatives to ensure successful outcomes of government economic and social priorities.Foster collaborative relationships with industry to support input into the operational requirements of the Department's training initiatives.Lead the development and implementation of innovative skills and workforce development strategies in consultation with employers, small business and industry stakeholders to provide an effective workforce for Queensland industry.Provide high level advice to Department of Small Business and Training (DESBT) and other key stakeholders relating to industry need and strategic, complex training and employment initiatives and issues.Lead and manage related project planning, implementation, budgeting and resourcing, and contribute to collective communication, monitoring and reporting processes to ensure the achievement of required outcomes.Gather and provide high level analysis of quantitative and qualitative data on skills and labour gaps and workforce trends and provide strategic sector-wide advice based on that analysis.Prepare strategic and high-level advice, submissions and reports, on industry skilling and workforce development matters.Proactively engage with industry stakeholders and businesses to strengthen relationships, facilitate communication, identify emerging needs, address enquiries, and promote and encourage take-up of MSQ products and services. External stakeholders include:? Manufacturing industry bodies, networks, and businesses? Vocational education and training (VET) sector, and employment organisations? State, local, and commonwealth government departmentsManage and facilitate Industry Reference Group meetings upholding the Terms of Reference to ensure best practice governance and rigour is upheld, maintaining relationships with members as their first point of contact, and identifying opportunities for new members to ensure diverse and a contemporary membership strategy is maintained.Attend and present at industry and peak body engagement and networking events and forums; and participate on relevant manufacturing industry or VET sector committees.Work with the marketing team on digital and other engagement strategies to promote success stories, and generate leads and partnership opportunities.Assist in the development of proposals and commercialisation strategies for new and existing MSQ products and services to secure new revenue streams, and assist with the drafting and management of tenders, bids, and contracts.Work with manufacturing industry bodies and a wide range of stakeholders to build a pipeline of new projects and develop project proposals for new services, products and commercialisation opportunities aligned with the Annual Training Plan (ATP) and priorities.Develop and manage a pipeline of projects with clear implementation plans to meet key deliverables, budget tracking and timeframes using relevant project management systems and CRM.Reporting to the Director Program Delivery and Commercial, collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful delivery of projects and programs, working flexibly and providing assistance with other duties as directed and required.Who we are looking forWe will assess your suitability for this role by looking at what you have done previously - your knowledge, skills and experience, your potential for development, and your personal qualities.For this role, we will consider how well you demonstrate the competencies critical to the performance of the role. As an Industry Development Manager - Training and Skills, you will be responsible for all levels of project management, coordination and facilitation and will need to be confident working autonomously and you will require:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to identify and build relationships, negotiate and influence change, and facilitate stakeholder and industry collaboration.Strong ability to build and maintain positive sustainable professional relationships with staff, industry partners, educational institutions, government agencies, and community organisations.Professional and engaging facilitation and presentation skills, with experience at working group meetings and industry forums.Strong written communication skills to communicate a range of information to a variety of audiences through submissions, formal reports and other documentation.Sound project management skills to identify strategic goals and work autonomously to develop and implement annual work plans.Understanding of the VET sector including DESBT's investment in VET, programs and initiatives, and key state and national stakeholders.Expertise in the review and development of national training products, and the ability to effectively contribute to Jobs and Skills Councils training and workforce projects.Ability to research and analyse qualitative and quantitative data to support evidence-based advice and inform project delivery.Proactive and highly organised with the ability to multitask, prioritise, and work effectively in a team environment.Practical proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn new software systems quickly.Full clean drivers' licence with the ability to undertake occasional travel within Queensland, and into our Brisbane head office as required.Proven experience and successful track record in skills, education, training, workforce development or employment services context.Direct experience working with the manufacturing industry, VET sector, or government is also advantageous.Qualifications in a relevant discipline are highly desirable.What we doManufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) is an independent, not-for-profit industry body established by the Queensland Government.
