Overview This position will deliver place based, innovative and strategically aligned outcomes to ensure the business assets are managed and maintained in a financially sustainable manner that aligns with the Community Strategic Plan, Long Term Financial Plan (LTFP), Resourcing Strategy and other relevant adopted policies and strategies.Responsibilities Identify and prioritise the business assets using a place-based approach that takes a cross-sectoral view of the interrelated infrastructure and amenity needs of a location.Update and maintain the business asset register ensuring data, including attribute and condition data is accurate, up to date and meets the business reporting, audit, and financial obligations.Assist in the development of road asset management and maintenance plans and schedules and assist with implementation.Collate and prepare financial data and other information that supports budgeting and project costing, and financial management/statutory reporting for the organisation.Monitor the effectiveness of costs in supply and maintenance contracts/projects and ensure programs are delivered within budget.Support the development of tender documents and specifications for relevant contracts and ensure they are managed in line with the business procurement procedures with relation to road assets collection, asset renewal and/or replacement.Promote cross-unit collaboration with all other Directorates and Business units within the business.Prepare reports and correspondence on asset management matters and ensure all relevant actions are enacted within agreed timeframes.Keep abreast of changes to legislation, standards and guidelines that relate to roads assets management within Local Government.Assist in the development and implementation of special projects with respect to roads assets management.Provide support to other Senior Asset Specialists as required.Other duties relevant to the position as required and as directed by the Manager Strategic Placemaking. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, project management, asset management or minimum 3 years demonstrated relevant experience in a related field.Current Class C Drivers Licence.Construction Induction (White Card). Experience Extensive experience in roads assets management.Experience with road construction and re-sheeting.Ability to present accurate, clear, concise, and timely reports.Current knowledge of engineering practice, particularly in a Local Government context.Knowledge on development application procedures and reporting.Ability to introduce and implement new engineering concepts and procedures.Ability to approach problems in a creative manner.Sound organisational and time management skills.Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.Good understanding of civil engineering modelling software, GIS (mapping) software, CAD software.Sound computer skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.Demonstrated ability to provide sound technical advice on roads assets management issues.Experience in street lighting design specifications and asset management.
