An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time qualified and passionate Music Tutor to teach Violin and Viola within our growing Strings program. The position includes teaching private lessons P-12, teaching small groups in our Year 2 & 3 and Year 5 - 7 Classroom Strings Programs as well as conducting co-curricular String Ensembles. We are seeking a highly skilled violinist/viola player with a strong pedagogical knowledge base and demonstrated experience conducting groups of young children and teenagers.
About the position:
* Teaching days are across all 5 days of the week, Monday to Friday (1.0 FTE)
* Deliver high-quality, individual instrumental lessons in both Violin and Viola
* Deliver Year 5 – 7 String ensemble classes (small groups) on Wednesdays
* Deliver Year 2 and 3 Strings Program on Thursdays (small group teaching with other String staff)
* Co-curricular String Ensemble direction
* The role reports to the Head of Music and Performing Arts

The ideal candidate will have:
* A Bachelor or Master's Degree in Music Performance
* Demonstrated experience teaching young children and teenagers
* Experience in conducting group ensembles of varying levels
* Experience preparing students for AMEB Violin and Viola Exams (or similar)
* Extensive pedagogical knowledge base and understanding (experience with Kodaly or Suzuki highly regarded)
* Proven capacity to enhance the student experience in the learning of and love of music
* Demonstrated strong collaboration skills with other members of a music programme within a school environment
* Solid communication and EQ skills
* Knowledge and understanding of the School's obligations in respect of Ministerial Order No. 1359, the Reportable Conduct Scheme, mandatory reporting, record keeping in relation to student safety and wellbeing, the failure to disclose and failure to protect offences (and any other information sharing and reporting obligations that may arise). Training will be provided.
* Working knowledge of, and be able to, adhere to School policies and student safety practices, including those detailed in the Student Safety at The Knox School Handbook which can be accessed here.
* A supportive and respectful attitude to students and their families and builds positive connections with all members of the school community.
* A current Level 2 First Aid Qualification, including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training. Training is provided by the school annually.
