Field Service Technician (Electrical Technician)

We are currently seeking a Field Service Technician with experience in the BESS, Industrial or RE Sectors and local to Lake Munmorah / Colongra area.

The Role
The Field Service Technician will be proactive and prepared to tackle their next challenge in building and maintaining large-scale energy storage systems. This role involves hands-on technical commissioning and maintenance support, including annual maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement preventative and reactive maintenance according to service agreements and product warranties, adhering to established schedules.
* Perform onsite troubleshooting and investigate equipment failures.
* Prioritize and uphold safe work practices as specified in the Energy Control Program, Maintenance Manual, and all Powin documentation.
* Attend daily toolbox meetings and complete sign-offs for Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Work Orders (WO), and Lockout/Tagout checklists.
* Act as the company’s onsite representative, focusing on customer service while following site-specific safety protocols, communication guidelines, and playbooks.
* Generate regular reports on field operations activities.
* Maintain accurate daily entries and coding of all service activities in the service database.
* Create special reports for significant field findings that require detailed Field Reports.
* Follow all Powin documentation when carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance.
* Ensure compliance with Powin’s quality standards.
* Support spare parts inventory management and logistics as needed.
Experience & Qualifications:
Required
* Certified A grade Electrical Worker or equivalent qualification in Australia or New Zealand
* 5+ years of demonstrated field service experience (BESS Experience is preferable but not mandatory, Service/HV experience is ideal)
* Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment (e.g., Digital Multimeters, Meggers, multi-process calibration equipment)
* Working knowledge of AS/NZS standards
* Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
* Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint, Teams), Slack, and other collaboration tools
* Aptitude to learn new software
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong time management and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in wind turbine, solar, or battery storage service operations
* Knowledge of fire detection systems and/or HVAC systems
* Familiarity with SCADA protocols (e.g., DNP3, Modbus)
* Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
* Experience with SEL PLCs, relays, meters, SCADA, Ethernet switches, media converters (fiber and serial), and digital input/output devices
* If you have Fire Warden or CPR/LVR that would be bonus!
