About the role This is a key role inside the Digital Infrastructure team and maintains and operates the Linux Server and Datacentre Infrastructure (LSDCI) environment. The environment consists of VMWare, load balancers, Linux servers, IPAM and DNS, monitoring systems, backup, storage and other infrastructure level services.
You will run a small team of staff that assist you in operating and maintaining the equipment and services that the LSDCI provide as well as procurement, contract and vendor management activities for systems that fall directly inside your areas of responsibility.
The role works with many other teams at UNE and directly supports both administrative systems as well as research and teaching.
About you To be successful in this role, you will have:
Excellent communication, coordination and organisational abilities Experience in managing small teams Project management experience or participation in large projects as a lead Highly developed technical skills and familiarity with technologies in use at UNE Current knowledge of industry trends and technologies Experience with contracts, procurement processes and vendor management, preferably inside a government organisation A willingness to take part in the on-call roster About the Group The Digital Infrastructure group is responsible for all the centralised digital infrastructure at UNE including networking, IaaS, some SaaS, Microsoft cloud products, Windows server, Linux server, phone systems and many other digital technologies.
