About the role:
As a Control Room Operator (internally known as Production Process Operator) you will:
1. Monitor the central control room systems for all major process lines including equipment commissioning, startups, shutdowns and emergency condition management
2. Maintain continual observation of all operation condition indications and trends; responding with appropriate action to achieve optimum outputs and process stability
3. Continuously monitor plant process lines using available tools to ensure employee safety, stable equipment operation, equipment integrity within prescribe design limitations, operating targets and environmental regulations
4. Control product quality at all stages of the cement manufacturing process by having a clear understanding of the targets and the levers that are used to control the targets
5. Coordinate with Production Process Operators and Shift Team Leaders to ensure effective running of the plant
6. Act on the control system alarms and escalate to plant resources to troubleshoot, inspect and maintain plant equipment as required
7. Maintain awareness of the automation system control strategy and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
8. Monitor and maintain emissions levels below baseline compliance levels
9. Periodically inspect equipment data and report potential/actual breakdowns to the Maintenance team
10. Manipulate controls to maintain optimum production rates and to prevent equipment damage
11. Operate production mobile and fixed plant equipment as required
12. Perform general housekeeping activities as needed
About you:
To be eligible for this role you will have:
13. Minimum 3 years previous experience as Control Room Operator / CCR in cement manufacturing process
14. Minimum 3 years' experience working in the cement industry
15. Certificate level qualifications or higher in a related area are preferred
16. Working knowledge of all available production tools including operating procedures, DCS and SCADA systems
17. The ability to use critical thinking and sound judgement in quick decision making
18. Complex problem-solving skills, demonstrated through success in a central control room
19. The ability to work well under pressure and maintain quality decision-making skills
20. An elevated level of computer literacy skills and ability to operate job related systems
21. Excellent communication skills
22. Ability to work well in a team environment
