About the Role: We are a committed team, dedicated to providing tailored support, care and guidance to individuals with complex mental health needs, particularly those navigating challenges associated with having an intellectual impairment, ASD, ADHD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Schizophrenia, coupled with self-harming and complex behaviours such as verbal and physical aggression. Support Workers will require knowledge and experience in working with people who have complex mental health needs. The support worker will be required to provide person centred care in a variety of settings. Responsibilities: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate person to support a complex male client, living in the Ipswich area. As a Support Worker, you will be providing 1:1 support, for our client to safely receive community access. Your role will involve: - Daily Living Support: Assisting with daily living activities and skill development to promote independence. - Safety and Well-being: Ensuring the safety and well-being of the individual at all times. - Team Collaboration: Working closely with other support staff, healthcare professionals, and family members to provide consistent and effective care. - Behaviour Management: Implementing strategies to manage extreme behaviours, including verbal and physical aggression. - Restrictive Practices: Utilising restrictive practices in accordance with approved positive behaviour support plan Duties: Provide direct support in accordance with the individual's care plan. - Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using approved techniques. - Implement and monitor restrictive practices as required. - Assist with personal care tasks. - Facilitate participation in community activities and social interactions. - Maintain detailed and accurate records of behaviour support provided and incidents occurred. - Communicate effectively with the individual, their family, and the support team. - Flexibility to work varying shifts including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Qualifications and Skills: Experience with challenging behaviours. Knowledge and experience with Complex Mental Health needs. Understanding of ethical restrictive practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to stay calm under stress. Relevant qualifications in Disability Support or Community Services. First Aid and CPR certification. Paid Yellow Card and Blue Card, Drivers License – Road Worthy Registered Vehicle (CAR) Personal Attributes: Aboriginal Male Support Worker Empathetic, patient, and committed to improving life quality for individuals with disabilities.
