The Position
We are looking for multiple Staff Specialist - Emergency Department for a permanent vacancy in Tasmania’s largest hospital and major referral centre.
We have multiple fixed term full-time and part-time positions available. These positions are day work (with on-call) work pattern positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.
Under limited direction and supervision of the Director - Emergency Department, your duties include:
* Patient Care
* Teaching of undergraduate clinical teaching and supervision and training of post graduate trainees.
* Maintain involvement in research activities
* Administrative and Quality improvement
Health Service
You will be based at the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania, and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region and state. The Emergency Department has direct access to all medical and surgical specialities and has approximately 75,000 presentations per year. The Department has in excess of 250 staff, consisting of medical, nursing, allied health, clerical, aides, and orderlies. The Emergency Department is staffed by specialists, registrars, nurses and clinical support staff who work together as a dynamic team with strong focus on collegiality

Essential Criteria
* Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
* Demonstrated ability to provide services within ED at a tertiary referral teaching hospital.
* Demonstrated capacity for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
* Ability to undertake and manage research activities.
* Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
* Knowledge of recent advances in relevant medical area.
The Package
* Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $210,000 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $288,000 with further salary increments available.
* Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 - $301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
* Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle (subject to working full-time hours for at least three years) OR allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $27,535 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
* Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,000 pro rata per annum pro rata.
* Relocation allowance.
* On call allowance % of Base Salary.
