The Rail Infrastructure Manager is primarily accountable for the ongoing management and maintenance of Boral’s Rail infrastructure. This includes management of major capital upgrades, stewardship of the rail technical procedures, and the management and execution of the annual rail maintenance program. Periodically, you will also be required to execute general project engineering initiatives from Boral Cements Capital program.
Your day will involve:
1. Develop, coordinate and govern the annual Rail upgrade and maintenance program for Boral.
2. As the rail subject matter expert, provide technical support and guidance to operational managers and teams and assist with all rail related activities in the business including review of safety interface agreements and preparation for site regulator audits.
3. Contractor liaison and management as well as contract administration, change management and invoicing.
4. Preparation of Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents and sourcing quotations, price review and justification, tendering review activities and award of works.
5. Coordination of annual detailed inspections and patrol inspections by third party providers and review of resulting reports.
6. Coordination of minor and major maintenance works such as capital upgrade works. including preparation of scope and specification documentation as well as cost estimates for capital expenditure requests.
7. Submit proposals for capital funding as part of the capital budgeting process.
8. Enable successful project management execution and delivery of rail maintenance and other capital projects to ultimately meet customer requirements and deliver the business benefits.
9. Continuously look to improve rail maintenance performance/results.
What are we looking for?
10. A solid understanding of rail freight operations with experience dealing with the Rail Regulator and understanding of basic rail design and standards
11. Rail accreditations and rail safety inductions preferred
12. Qualifications in mechanical or structural engineering or similar field
13. Contractor management experience
14. Familiarity with the heavy industry resources/construction industry
15. Exposure to the relevant safety and project management legislation standards and methodologies
16. Proficiency with MS Office suite
17. Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines.
