Pembroke Resources is an Australian company that owns the Olive Downs Complex, a large-scale world-class steelmaking coal mine located in the Bowen Basin of Queensland. Over $1 billion has been invested in the Complex and operations commenced in June 2023.
The Olive Downs Complex has been built to be a mine of the future, with fully autonomous haulage and drilling implemented from day one, enabling an efficient ramp up to the Stage 1 production level of 6 per annum. It is also setting new standards in embedded ESG practices.
It is an exciting time to join Pembroke, having commenced coal production in early 2024.
About the Role
As the Senior Mine Geologist, you will play a critical role in providing geological guidance, compliance auditing, and coal quality expertise for mining operations at the Olive Downs Complex. Reporting to the Operations Manager, based at Olive Downs Complex in the Bowen Basin, you will ensure coal quality and mining compliance, review geological and coal quality model updates and develop coal blending strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Safety and People
* Visibly demonstrate safety engagement within the Mine Technical Services function and Pembroke Resources.
* Build professional relationships within the Contractor’s technical team to foster the development of transparent and collaborative geological updates, coal mining techniques and in-pit supervision.
Technical
* Develop a clear understanding of all contractual mechanisms at ODC relating to coal quality and quantity.
* Provide in-pit guidance to the mining services contractor to ensure coal/parting seams are appropriately identified and split, LOX lines are adhered to, and loss and dilution is managed.
* Deliver continuous improvement recommendations regarding coal mining methodology with the focus of ensuring loss/dilution improvements, as well as pit-port value chain improvements.
* Review the ongoing ROM model update conducted by the mining services contractor.
* Ensure compliance to coal rejects/tailings management strategies are adhered to.
* Manage in-pit and ROM sampling campaigns as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Tertiary qualifications in Geological Sciences or equivalent.
* Geotechnical experience is highly desirable.
* Experience in Rangal coal measures is highly desirable.
* Exposure to both owner-operator and contract mining will be valued.
* Experience in exploration drilling programs is highly valued.

This is a site-based role on 8/6 roster. If you choose to live locally, we offer housing assistance; alternatively, we will provide full camp accommodation and flights. There will be a requirement to travel to Brisbane at least once a month, during your rostered days.
