Building Certifier (Surveyor) Regulatory Services Permanent Full time LGO Level 6, $96,171 plus superannuation Hervey Bay At Fraser Coast Regional Council our people are our most important asset and central to achieving our purpose of Building Better Communities Together.What we are looking for: Certified Building inspector (at a level 2 or above) to undertake councils statutory building certification responsibilities and provide expert professional and technical advice on building certification, legislation and compliance issues.What your day will look like: You will support and assist the Manager Development Compliance and Plumbing Services as Council's principal Building Certifier.You will manage regulatory breaches by monitoring, investigating and reporting on illegal build matters.Provide expert advice to the public on building certification and compliance issues and play a vital role in the safety of the Fraser Coast community.Compilation of evidence for prosecutions where required by Council and, where appropriate, attend court to act as a witness on behalf of Council.Coordinate and undertake regular inspections.Manage and assess development applications for building work as required.Assist in development & implementation of monitoring programs for high-risk premises.Develop and modify systems to maximise efficiencies and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.What you'll need for success: Bachelor of Building Surveying or equivalent relevant qualification.Current license with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission or the at a minimum level of Building Certifier Level 2.Expert knowledge of the Building Act 1975, the Building Regulation 2006, relevant building codes, local laws and sound understanding of the Planning Act 2016.High level of oral and written communication skills.Interpersonal – listening, advising and negotiation skills.Written – correspondence and reports.Demonstrated ability to work within a certification and regulatory team including the ability to meet all statutory deadlines.Intermediate to Advanced computer software proficiency in relation to the use of Microsoft Office Suite, RAMS, Document Management systems and other Local Government Software systems.Car License.Qld swimming pool inspectors license or the ability to promptly obtain.What's nice to have: Suitable experience in Town Planning.Benefits of Working with Council: Committed to providing quality services to our community, we strongly support an inclusive and values-driven culture, recognising your individual skills, knowledge and talent.As part of this, we have implemented our Leadership Development Program, Boss to Coach.
