Kurri Kurri Community Services (KKCS)
KKCS has been a cornerstone of the Kurri Kurri and Cessnock communities for over 35 years, empowering individuals and families with meaningful, high-quality services. KKCS’s Youth Services Team is dedicated to supporting young people and their families through advocacy, case work and access to vital resources. Working within the Cessnock LGA, the team assists with court support, referrals to services and educational programs in local schools, making a real difference in the lives of young people.
About the Role:
We are looking for a motivated, engaging and adaptable Youth Worker. In this role, you will work closely with young people (ages 12-24) and their families, providing support to help them achieve personal, vocational, educational, social, health & well-being, legal and advocacy, financial, family and community goals. You will also assist in connecting participants with relevant support services, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide direct support to young people and their families through individualised case management, helping them overcome barriers and achieve personal goals.
* Advocate for young people in a variety of settings.
* Maintain accurate case notes
* Assess barriers, and develop intervention strategies tailored to each participant’s needs.
* Take part in weekly team allocation meetings to manage caseloads and coordinate support for new clients.
* Refer participants to other services and community supports
* Be a mentor and coach to young people, empowering them with the skills and confidence to navigate life's challenges.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience working with young people and families in a community setting.
* Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Understanding of local services & supports available to young people, such as housing, mental health, employment services and legal aid.
* Excellent communication and engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and positive relationships with young people.
* A positive, proactive attitude with the ability to mentor and motivate young people to achieve their goals.
