How will I help?
The Financial Markets business is a division of Westpac Investment Bank (WIB) and trades a range of derivative products both locally and internationally, which have regulatory reporting obligations.
With a recent promotion, the team have an entry level Reporting Analyst opportunity. In this role, you’ll ensure that the derivative reports are delivered to regulators each day, on time, complete and with accuracy. To achieve this, you’ll play a key role in actioning exception queues, performing reconciliations, monitoring controls, and undertaking a series of procedural tasks on a daily and periodic basis e.g., monitoring and reviewing all processes and controls within GDR reporting. You’ll also oversee Interest Rate, FX, Credit, Equity and Commodities derivatives.
Additionally, you’ll also cover MiFID reporting obligations with oversight of Money Market Instruments, Exchange Traded Funds and Securitised Derivatives.
As a Reporting Analyst in the FM team you’ll have the following key areas of focus:
Excellence in Operations Execution:
o Perform reconciliations between Westpac systems and the Trade Repository to ensure the reporting of trades are complete.
o Take full ownership of daily operational tasks and ad-hoc requests relating to your role and assist others in the team when required.
o Resubmissions of trade reports that do not pass validations at the Trade Repository.
o Record and publish statistics on trade submissions across the control framework and identify opportunities to further reduce risk.
o Act as a checker for the work being performed by other team members.
o Completion of the day-to-day trade reporting enrichment process within set timeframes.
o Ensure all procedures, policies and controls are being adhered to - protecting Westpac’s reputation.
o Escalate issues to your people leader within team guidelines.
o Drive and maintain a strong risk culture with a relentless focus on minimising regulatory reporting risk.
o Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
o Complete all relevant online compliance training within agreed time frames.
Risk management :
o Monitor and review all processes and controls within MiFID and GDR reporting.
o Create periodic management reports covering controls and exceptions.
o Review exception analytics and recommend actions plans to address issues.

What do I need to hit the ground running?
o Developed industry experience in an Operations environment with a sound understanding of Financial Markets Products and Business Activities.
o Experience with Global Derivatives Reform regulations such as ASIC and CFTC.
o Product Knowledge of Debt Market Products (preferred), with FX or Rates derivatives desirable.
o Demonstrable experience in the management of exceptions and reducing operational risk.
o Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to manage large data sets. For example, working knowledge of VLOOKUPs, Pivot tables and check balances.
o Demonstrated customer obsession to exceed expectations, helping drive NPS.
o Effective written and verbal communication skills to manage relationships with stakeholders.
o Advanced research and report compilation skills, coupled with the ability to present reports/analysis to internal stakeholders and confidence to represent the function in multi-divisional teams.
o A growth and curious mindset, where you continually challenge yourself to achieve goals and exceed expectations.
o Experience applying a risk mindset and commercial acumen.
o Degree qualified – Business/Finance/Accounting.
