Gardener/General Hand Volunteer – Townsville QLD
This is an ongoing role, with weekday shifts available. You must be able to commit to at least one shift per fortnight.

The program
The Townsville Accommodation Centre provides a welcoming home away from home for people travelling from rural and remote areas to receive medical treatment at the Townsville Hospital.
The Centre is designed to reflect the Red Cross wellbeing model, with its sense of openness, welcome and homeliness, mirroring health and recovery.
The opportunity
We are looking for someone who loves the outdoors and gardening as you will be required to perform various gardening activities.
Planning and organisational skills are also essential to maintaining gardening schedules and equipment for future use.
Key Roles And Responsibilities Include:
* Liaise with other volunteers and community members
* Contribute where possible to any events or activities at the centre
* Clean and Maintain any Gardening equipment
* Where required provide meet and Greet services to guest only where required
* Various gardening activities including; planting, watering, weeding, composting, mulching and maintaining garden beds
* Gurney of walk and pathways
* General tidy and moving of items in general storage areas
* Participate in any centre team meetings where required
The impact
As a volunteer, you will help those travelling for medical treatment feel at home and ease their recovery by listening, empathising, and providing them with a friendly voice.
You will have the opportunity to learn from many people's diverse history and knowledge, as well as feeling the satisfaction of giving back to others.
Application Requirements
* To undertake this role, you will need to undergo a National Police Check organised through Red Cross
* You will need to provide details for two professional references
* Depending on your State/Territory, you may need to hold or apply for a Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check
