Working in a passionate team of healthcare data professionals, you’ll make a direct impact by delivering advanced statistical analysis for our hospital, medical and ancillary business groups.You will be passionate about working with data and have a background in application of statistics & machine learning techniques on data with demonstrated strengths in storytelling and presenting insights to key stakeholders focused on improving customer outcomes.Your strengths in descriptive analysis, data visualisation, coupled with exceptional influencing skills and ‘can do’ attitude will help you thrive in the role. (Bupa offers hybrid working and you can work from the office or at home) How will I help?
1. Provide advanced analytics support including, machine learning and AI to Health Insurance Problems by partnering with business areas to identify and execute on use cases that will deliver value to Bupa and our customers
2. Leverage new capabilities that become available as Bupa transitions its data from SAS to the Microsoft Azure platform
3. Lead in-house analytics projects and upskill people across Analytics Insights & Claims Integrity as appropriate
4. Apply your broad skillset across data and analytics to develop and implement analytical models to support key business areas such as fraud, waste and abuse, behaviour change, contract management, modelling and prediction through to interventions and health programs.
5. Compile insights and recommendations into clear, concise deliverables for internal business partners, derive insights from data and communicate those insights to a non-technical audience through presentations and documentation.
6. Provide guidance to other Analytics Insights & Claims Integrity members in terms of optimum approaches to problem-solving including dashboard design, critical thinking using advanced techniques such as NLP and network analysis

As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll demonstrate advanced skills in data science, analytics or data engineering with desired experience in a Healthcare industry or insurance setting and a curiosity for solving problems through data.
7. Technical skills
8. Advanced skills in statistical programming languages - SQL, SAS, R and/or Python for analyses
9. Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau or Power BI)
10. Proficiency and experience in statistical modelling and machine learning techniques (NLP, rule-based systems, feature engineering, regression, classification, segmentation, cross-validation, bootstrapping, Bayesian techniques etc.)
11. Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (properties of distributions, statistical hypothesis testing, experimental design) and experience applying these.
12. Tertiary qualifications in a highly quantitative field (mathematics, statistics, computer science, machine learning) or equivalent demonstrated work experience
13. Structured communication skills to interpret and convey information in a clear, concise way with stakeholders from technical and non-technical background by using data to tell a story
14. Business acumen to develop partnerships with stakeholders engaging with curiosity to deepen your business knowledge to innovate ideas to address roadblocks and create opportunities
