About the Opportunity
Are you looking to kick start your career and have a keen interest in golf? A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1st year Apprentice Sports Turf Management, who has the passion and dreams of becoming a qualified Greenkeeper.
Royal Pines 27-hole championship golf course is ranked in the top 100 golf courses within Australia. Our three 18-hole, par-72 combination layouts, along with a driving range, putting green and chipping green, guarantees members, groups and casual golfers a memorable round of golf. In addition to this, our multi-purpose grass sports field caters for different sporting codes and is the perfect venue for elite sporting team training camps.
This could be just the right role for you?
You will work under the guidance of our experienced and passionate golf course maintenance team, to learn about all things golf course and turf maintenance. Every day will be different in this role, where you will learn and develop fundamental skills to manage turf grass surfaces and become a qualified sports turf tradesperson. As an apprentice, you will learn about health & safety, sustainable work practices, turf establishment and maintenance, irrigation & drainage systems, operating specialised machinery, plant nutrition, pest management and construction of turf playing surfaces.
Royal Pines is open 7 days week. Our golf course maintenance team work 38 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 5.30am-2pm, Friday 5.30am-11.30am and one rotating weekend per month, Saturday & Sunday 5am-9am. Availability to work these hours is required.
What you’ll need to be successful
* Reliability and commitment to complete all requirements of a Certificate III turf management qualification
* Previous completion of a Certificate II in Horticulture, highly regarded
* Drivers Licence, desirable
* Excellent verbal & written communication skills
* Strong work ethic, can use initiative, attention to detail & take pride in your work
* Work well with others in a team environment, willingness to follow directions, learn & ask questions
* A genuine passion and interest in golf & turf management, positive & friendly attitude
* Physically fit to undertake manual work & heavy lifting
* Excellent presentation, grooming & hygiene
