About the Team
The Financial Control team is responsible for the integrity of the General Ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and for the financial reporting process. The AP, AR and Billing team is responsible for the timely and accurate execution of financial transactions. There is significant crossover between these teams and the rest of Finance which fosters an environment where teamwork and collaboration are essential for success.
As a team comprising of highly accountable, specialist functions, the Financial Control and AP/AR and Billing teams play an important role in providing support to the broader business who often lean on the team’s efficiencies.
About the role and you
As the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for both the Financial Control and AP,AR and Billing teams. You will manage a team of 19 people across these functions, leading them with an inspired and attentive approach, through various and competing priorities, ensuring deadlines are adhered to.

You are flexible, adaptable, and empathetic leader who is willing to roll up your sleeves and do what’s necessary to help your team deliver whilst feeling supported throughout. You foster a continuous improvement mindset, constantly striving for excellence in all that you do. You consider multiple options and perspectives and communicate clearly and impactfully. You will have a high level of experience with stakeholder engagement and an understanding the importance of appropriate communication management.
With all of this in mind, you will be a highly qualified chartered accountant with a proven breadth of knowledge and experience of Australian accounting standards. You will have a proven track record in leading teams through successful change and continuous improvement programs, with strong decision-making skills in a proactive manner. We are looking for someone who is a leader and team player at the same time with high attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
The role responsibilities include, but are not limited to
* Manage the financial integrity of the General Ledger
* End to end ownership of the Group’s financial consolidation and monthly close process including timely balance sheet reconciliations.
* Manage and direct the process to accurately produce the half year and year end statutory financial statements and other external reporting
* Manage and cultivate good working relationships with FP&A, Treasury, Tax and Capex teams.
* Coaching and development of team members to encourage and promote a collaborative team that seeks continuous improvement.
* Audit and Risk Committee reporting.
* Provide technical advice to business with a commercial mindset.
* Preparation of technical accounting papers to support key accounting positions and judgements.
* Ensure accuracy of AP/AR/Billing.
* Manage financial control functions within the business units and entities, including driving compliance with accounting policies and standard.
Your background should include
* Qualified chartered accountant
* Experience in managing teams, with strong and well-developed people management skills
* Experience working as a Financial Controller is desirable
* Big 4 accounting experience is a plus
* Proven experience in the preparation of IFRS statutory reports
* Demonstrated problem solving ability
* Proven experience working through complex accounting issues
* High level of stakeholder engagement/management
* Demonstrated high level of accountability
