The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug services. We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Casual Support Worker who will provide effective support to Participants ensuring a safe and structured environment is maintained in accordance with TSA guidelines, within a Participant lead recovery-based service.
You will successfully
* Participants accessing the service are provided with a welcoming and responsive initial contact and urgent and immediate needs are addressed
* In consultation with more senior worker/s appropriate preventative action is taken in relation to potential high-risk situations
* Facilitation of daily activities and programs, which may include social activities, Spirit Lifter, information groups
* Information is provided to assist in assessing and addressing participant issues, needs and circumstances
* Effective relationships are established with participants that encourage self-determination and participation and support them to improve their situation
* As directed, support is provided to participants to implement case plans in accordance with the TSA model of care and practice
* Participants are actively encouraged to engage in the implementation of case plans
* Participants are assisted to access support services
* Activity risk assessments and mitigation strategies are developed and communicated to management
You will have
* Relevant certificate to the work performed and;
* Previous experience in relevant industry, and/or on the job training or diploma level qualification
* A current and valid First Aid Certificate
* A current drivers licence
* A current Working with Children check (Blue Card) is required for roles located at Townsville & Mount Isa sites only
This is a casual position located in Mt. Isa, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Level 3 Award.
