About the Role
St Francis Xavier College is seeking to recruit a Food Technology Teacher. St Francis Xavier College is committed to excellence and innovation in teaching and learning and to preparing our students for 21st Century work, life, and leisure. Our classrooms are places of support and nurture where we are teaching our students to think critically and creatively, and to collaborate and communicate with skill and confidence. This position will suit a Food Technology Teacher who has the ability and commitment to add to the dynamism of our vision for 21st Century education and the qualifications and commitment to teach Food Technology from Years 7 to 12.
The Design and Technology faculty is a highly skilled, professional, creative and dynamic team who is passionate about the Food Technology curriculum. In conjunction with teaching the course, the teacher is charged with keeping up to date with changes in the curriculum and developing new resources. Commitment to professional development is essential, as is excellent skills in the use of technology in the classroom.
The successful applicant will have a genuine love of Hospitality and Food Technology and delight in the wonderful exploration of ideas in the classroom. As part of a vibrant team the successful applicant will contribute both professionally and collegially to the team. Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills will be important, as well as a commitment to enhance learning in all facets of the Design and Technology curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of a teacher at St Francis Xavier College include, but are not limited to the following:
* Preparing and executing well-planned, academically rich and innovative lessons;
* Developing a stimulating learning environment by using a variety of styles and approaches to cater for individual learning needs;
* Employing a variety of effective teaching strategies to successfully implement the curriculum;
* Working collaboratively in the Hospitality and Food Technology team to develop an engaging and challenging curriculum with clear learning outcomes, provision for differentiated learning, shared curriculum documentation and consistent assessment strategies.
* Ensuring that classrooms are places where technology is seamlessly, yet actively, employed to assist in effective learning;
* Reporting on academic achievement to parents and making appropriate levels of contact with parents as necessary;
* Developing learning relationships with students that assist in developing the confidence and learning of St Francis Xavier College students;
* Giving appropriate time to the planning of lessons and collaboration with other teachers as part of teaching teams;
* Actively contributing to a culture of teaching and learning where teachers learn with, and from, each other and actively inquire into effective pedagogical practice;
* Engaging in active and continuous professional learning that is relevant to the discipline as well as concerns and debates in the education sphere more generally;
* Know and understand the responsibilities of working in a Catholic school with regard to Child Protection including the responsibility of mandatory reporting, the Catholic Education Code of Professional Conduct and the staff requirements of St Francis Xavier College.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Teaching or Master in Teaching.
* Tertiary educational qualifications in Design & Technology will be desired.
* Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
* Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) accreditation.

* Demonstrated ability to maximise student learning through the delivery of high quality teaching programs, employing effective and high yielding, pedagogical practices;
* Capacity to actively employ technology seamlessly to assist in effective learning;
* Ability to implement cooperative learning strategies to increase engagement through student centred learning; and
* Willingness to uphold active and continuous professional learning that is relevant to their area of discipline as well as concerns and debates in the education sphere more generally.
