The suitable applicant will be required to modify curriculum and adjust to meet the student’s individual needs.We are looking for an Early Childhood educator to join our dynamic team. This position ideally needs a flexible and reflective teacher, preferably with specialist knowledge and skills related to students with moderate to severe disability, including Intellectual Disability (ID), multiple physical disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Trauma. Experience in supporting students with co-morbid diagnoses and complex communication needs is highly desirable. Applicants with special needs qualifications or a willingness to undertake further postgraduate study in special needs education will be highly regarded. The successful applicant should be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and creating a supportive environment where student success is celebrated.The successful applicant should be able to develop, implement and review meaningful and appropriate Individual Education Plans that not only outline functional curriculum objectives but that support the whole child through targeted social-emotional skills, life skills, and Protective Behaviours curriculum. We are also a Positive Behaviour Support school, with a focus on explicitly teaching behaviours in a positive process. The successful applicant will ideally assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will also ideally provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to student progress.The ideal applicant should have a good understanding of the Early Years Framework, National Quality Standards, and ABLEWA. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teachers to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of the students is also highly desirable.
