Organisation: Department of Transport and PlanningOccupation: OtherReference: 5803Job posted: 13/11/2024Closes: 26/11/2024Classification: VPSG6Salary Range: $134,593 - $180,115About the RoleFull time - OngoingWalking and cycling are central to a sustainable, safe transport system and there is a significant investment metropolitan wide to develop and deliver programs and projects.The Manager Active Transport Development leads a multi-disciplinary team, as well as overseeing a matrix style working group with subject matter experts from other divisions, contractors, and key stakeholders.This role will lead, manage, motivate and develop a team, encouraging principle based decision making where limited guidance is available, and reflecting and learning from experience.We’re looking for energetic and motivated people who enjoy working in a productive and fast-paced team environment, and will work across Transport Services, with councils and state government agencies to deliver and ensure walking and cycling investments are coordinated and have maximum effect.Effectively lead, manage, motivate and develop a team to align with DTP culture to encourage our team members to be their best and deliver outcomes for the community.Manage the team’s approach to developing and delivering active transport projects by providing specialist and highly influential advice on matters relating to transport safety, with a particular emphasis on active transport.Apply leadership to promote a strong user centred and stakeholder engagement focus, working with our community and stakeholders to achieve quality and timely information, responses, recommendations and outcomes.Drive change management and communicate honestly and transparently to adapt to department policy and realignments by focusing on solutions and renewal.Apply advanced specialist skills to maintain strong working relationships and knowledge sharing with key internal and external stakeholders.Collaborate with road safety partners and across DTP to enhance Safe System approaches and outcomes that address understood and emerging road safety issues.(Standard line) - In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities.KEY SELECTION CRITERIAThe ideal candidate will have a proven track record in providing expert recommendations and establishing a community of practice for the development and delivery of walking and cycling infrastructure. You will have skills in strategic stakeholder management, understanding of building strong constructive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, effectively resolving conflicts and managing sensitivities to ensure positive outcomes for all parties involved.Your leadership experience will include managing and motivating teams in complex, high-pressure environments, while contributing to the development of strategic technical objectives that align with departmental policies.Your strong background in project development, having successfully delivered walking and cycling infrastructure projects that meet both economic objectives and community needs.
