Applications are accepted via eCredential only, to apply click here Position Classification : Staff Specialist Employment Type : Permanent Part Time Hours Per Week : up to 16 Purpose of the Position The position is part of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Mental Health Service (HKMHS) which provides recovery orientated mental health care to consumers, carers and families. HKMHS is a comprehensive mental health service serving the shires of Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai. A range of services are provided by the HKMHS including acute inpatient care, acute community care, psychiatric emergency care, consultation liaison services, older persons mental health, rehabilitation, assertive outreach services, mental health intensive inpatient care and early psychosis intervention services. The Staff Specialist will be primarily located in the Acute Care Team, but may also include all other HKMHS Community Teams. The provision of outpatient services, particularly for post –discharge follow up and related continuity of care matters is required, in consultation with the Clinical Director. The Staff Specialist is expected to work in other areas of the Service in times of staff shortages as directed by the Clinical Director. A 12 bed Child & Adolescent Unit is co-located in the new facility as well as Community CYMHS Services. A Mental Health Intensive Care Unit (MHICU) is adjacent to the new adult inpatient unit. A critical role of the incumbent is to develop, foster and maintain consultative and collaborative relationships with all key stakeholders to ensure optimal implementation of the mental health resources. The Staff Specialist reports operationally to the Service Director HKMHS on all non-clinical matters. Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or other specialist recognition by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 6 months may be considered. Experience in teaching psychiatry to medical, nursing and allied health students, psychiatry trainees and others as required. Experience in clinical practice improvement/quality improvement and experience or willingness to participate in clinical research.
