This role is part of our client studio team. We create emotive yet conversion-focused ideas, products and campaigns at scale and speed. Our specialty is hyper-personalised, digital communications that change perceptions, shape new behaviours, and shift market share for our clients including eBay, Ancestry, Canon, and more!
JOB PURPOSE:
As a Production Copywriter dedicated to a globally recognised retail client, you will produce engaging copy, working off a set foundation that drives sales across owned channels. This role produces hard-hitting consideration and conversion copy from the client perspective.
The Copywriter plays an integral role in the studio, working closely with client account leads and studio leads. There will be direct access to our clients global copy leads, for guidance/mentorship to produce high-quality, efficient assets. You’ll work with a supportive team of copywriters, designers, and account service who are also part of the client studio to deliver production rollout/s that answer the client brief on time and to DEPT’s high standard.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Produce copy for our client and related owned channels, i.e., SMS, CRM.
2. Work in a collaborative team dedicated to client production.
3. Follow protocols for maintaining the clients’ tone of voice and standards.
4. Incorporate learned best practices in future briefs without prompting.
5. Meet deadlines by completing work at pace and acting on feedback in a timely manner.
6. Understand how to identify work that doesn't fulfill the brief; vocalise concerns early and to the right audience.
7. Demonstrate the difference between idea and execution through work created.
8. Collaborate with design and account management teams, ensuring challenges are addressed at pace and agreed contract SLAs are adhered to.
9. Liaise with the global client copy team to gain brand insight and process optimisations to better our clients and work efficiently.
10. Work with colleagues to understand the basics of our business model (i.e., retainers, scope of work, capacity spend).
SKILLS AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
1. 1-3 years copywriting experience; a background in agency or brand is preferred.
2. Experience in the e-commerce/retail environment is a plus.
3. Exposure to multi-channel digital copy and brand development.
4. Ability to create impactful, punchy, and succinct copy that sells.
5. Confidence in working in a production studio with other copywriters and designers.
6. Experience working at a fast pace with strict SLAs.
7. Confidence working on more than one brief at a time, with many assets that need checking constantly to ensure high quality during dispatch.
8. Champion the importance of consistency across the eCommerce journey, calling out contradictions if/when they arise.
9. Ability to communicate copy rationale clearly and adhere to feedback when overridden.
10. Build positive relationships with colleagues at all levels to get work done efficiently.
11. Refer up when necessary.
12. A supportive, proactive attitude towards briefs.
