The Opportunity
Newly created opportunity for a Wholesale Trading Manager to join Veolia's Energy Retailing business. In this role you will manage the day-to-day energy trading operations, systems and reporting. This includes helping establish the initial Wholesale Trading Team and providing strategic input into Veolia’s Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) policy and software solutions. This role may be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.

What you will be responsible for
4. Strategic input to Energy Trading Risk Management Framework, including regulatory compliance oversight for the Energy Retail business
5. Provide strategic input on financial risk appetite, retail load forecasting models, and impacts of Retail strategy/PPAs on risk, governance, and compliance
6. Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to manage approval processes for Energy Retail products and governance requirements
7. Implement retail deal capture system and oversee Retail transfer pricing for C&I customers
8. Manage daily front office trading and portfolio risk management, as well as being a key stakeholders for middle and back office functions
9. Build and lead high-performing Wholesale Trading Team focused on financial risk, governance, compliance and supporting the Energy strategy objectives
What you will need to be successful
The successful candidate will possess:
10. Relevant tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline, such as mathematics, finance, engineering or economics.
11. Extensive experience (5-10+ years) in a similar wholesale markets leadership role, managing a sizable retail portfolio in the NEM, trading ASX futures, OTC financial derivatives, green PPAs, and all green certificates.
12. Expertise in ETRM software solutions, managing front, middle and back office trading functions, negotiating ISDAs and CSAs, and understanding AFSL requirements and energy prudentials.
13. Familiarity with complex C&I products (spot following, progressive purchasing, corporate PPAs, sleeving) and behind-the-meter energy solutions (Solar, BESS, Demand Response, Virtual Power Plants).
14. Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and drive process improvements, aligning with Veolia Energy's mission.
