Role
McKinnon Secondary College requires a capable and enthusiastic Double Reed (Woodwind) instructor for individual student, group tuition, and small ensemble direction. This vacancy is for 0.2 EFT.
* Instruct oboe and bassoon in group and individual classes.
* Piano accompaniment skills are an advantage but not a requirement.
* Instruct and demonstrate on all double reed instruments at all levels and be versed in various music styles.
* Demonstrate high competency in teaching instruments in groups.
* Direct a small woodwind ensemble and/or assist with concert bands as needed.
* Coordinate the allocation of students to classes and oversee relevant equipment maintenance.
* Attendance at concerts and rehearsals outside school is expected.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of an Instrumental Music instructor may include but are not limited to:
* Direct instruction of groups and individual students.
* Contributing to the development and evaluation of the Music curriculum.
* Undertaking related duties as determined by the School Principal and/or Managers of Instrumental Music.
* Participating in parent meetings, staff meetings, concerts, camps, and excursions.
* Complying with the school timetable and professional ethos.
* Creating a positive learning environment in line with the school's well-being and pastoral care policies.
