The Veterinarian reports to the Senior Veterinarian, Melbourne Bioresources Platform.Your responsibilities will include:Providing high-quality veterinary care to research animals, ensuring best practices and compliance with relevant regulations.Offering expert advice on animal care, biosecurity, and animal health, including support for import/export and maintaining appropriate animal health status.Contributing to quality assurance programs, developing SOPs, providing technical advice to researchers and ethics committees, and collaborating with training coordinators to deliver effective animal handling training.Who we are looking forWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Veterinarian with a strong commitment to animal welfare. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of laboratory animal science and medicine, with significant expertise in caring for small animals used in biomedical research. A thorough understanding of relevant legislation and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with researchers and animal care staff are essential. Postgraduate qualifications in Laboratory Animal Medicine and experience in developing and delivering training programs are highly desirable.You will also have:A Veterinary degree registrable in the State of Victoria.Postgraduate qualifications in Laboratory Animal Medicine, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.Significant technical expertise dealing with small animals commonly used in biomedical research.An in-depth understanding of laboratory animal science and medicine.This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
