Urban Planning Associate Director – Planning and Infrastructure Economics

Your Opportunity - Urban Planning - Associate Director
The opportunity within our Planning and Infrastructure Economics group is a new leadership role in our Melbourne practice to support the success of our people and clients.
Our team are specialists in supporting our clients’ needs with advice in strategic planning for urban and regional environments, the development of precinct and placemaking strategies and the short- and long-term planning and prioritisation of social, transport and energy infrastructure projects.
Associate Directors are considered industry specialists who support client growth, are passionate for building a thriving team culture and are known in the industry for their expertise and ability to deliver work opportunities.
As an Associate Director you will collaborate with our national team and work with our Melbourne Partners to unlock local opportunities in the Victorian market by:
* Leading the development of policies, strategies, feasibility studies, investment decision frameworks and business cases for Victorian focussed urban and regional planning initiatives.
* Being client facing, solving client problems, delivering proposals, and managing the delivery of projects.
* Introducing new and maintaining existing client relationships and building presence in the market at industry events.
* Providing subject matter expertise internally (locally and globally) and externally in the transport, social and energy markets.
* Building a cohesive and delivery focused team, with growth and learning as a key focus for your team.
* Supporting or unlocking our exposure to new or different clients’ sectors and works.
Our team is embedded within KPMG’s Infrastructure, Asset & Places group, a national team of global infrastructure specialists. Our differentiator is our experience across all aspects of the infrastructure project life cycle and our close connection with KPMG’s wider specialised services, offering unique opportunities to work together on a broad range of clients and industries to further deepen and strengthen client relationships.
We also partner with industry professionals from our Deal Advisory group. These connections are a key and exciting component of the growth and learning opportunities within KPMG, with the ability to derive global industry insights, research, and market data as well leveraging client relationships in different geographies.
How are you extraordinary?
You will bring recent experience in delivering client-side, government or advisory projects across urban/regional planning or precinct development and you will:
* You are considered a specialist in the early phases of major urban planning, regional planning, placemaking or precinct conceptualisation and the necessary investment and policy decision frameworks.
* Have the confidence to initiate, scope and lead project opportunities with clients.
* Be confident in leading multi-discipline teams and manage stakeholders’ interactions for project success.
* Show a passion for solving client problems, identifying opportunities for further success and mitigating risks for their projects.
* Be a leader in facilitating better community outcomes through enhanced infrastructure planning.
* Be an active a thought leader (or the desire to be) in a range of strategic, technical, and business issues impacting our clients and markets.

qualifications
, skills & experience could include:
* Leadership experiences in similar consulting, advisory or inhouse roles across urban or regional planning, precinct and placemaking or strategic social/health/hospital planning projects, locally or globally.
* Previous experience in project environments, across all stages from concept to delivery.
* The ability to build and maintain client relationships and develop a presence at industry networking events.
* A proven confidence to substantially contribute to the successful generation of new work opportunities.
* Strategic thinking skills and demonstrated experience in the economic, financial assessment, investment decisions and strategic planning of infrastructure projects.
* Tertiary
qualifications
