Join our ALS Environmental team in Springvale as a Laboratory Technician, where your expertise will contribute to vital environmental testing. In this hands-on position, you will prepare and analyze water and soil samples while ensuring adherence to ALS Quality Work instructions. Your day-to-day responsibilities include reporting any anomalies, organizing tasks for optimal efficiency, and operating sample preparation equipment. We're looking for candidates with TAFE or University qualifications, ideally with experience in a high-throughput lab setting. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to solve problems effectively are crucial. The day to day
1. Preparation and analysis of water and soil samples
2. Ensuring preparation and analytical work is conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work
3. Instructions.
4. Reporting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour.
5. Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies.
6. Completing tasks within assigned timeframes and to the relevant analysis standard.
7. Operation of sample preparation equipment.
8. Undertaking consumable stocktakes and housekeeping for tasks performed
9. Participating in cross-training to accommodate variable workflow and staff on leave.
10. Contributing to a clean, safe and organised lab environment
The Essentials:’
11. Either TAFE or University qualifications are required.
12. Experience in a high throughput, client-focused environment would be preferred but not essential- ideally in a commercial lab.
13. Attention to detail, self-management and organisational skills
14. Sound judgment and an effective problem-solving approach.
15. Excellent written and interpersonal communications
16. Ability to work well independently or collaboratively in a team.
17. Dedication to good laboratory practices with regard to quality of results and health and safety
18. Flexibility to work public holidays, afternoon and weekend shifts; please indicate your availability in your cover letter
19. Dedication to go the extra mile, be solutions driven and ensure there is no compromise on quality
20. Good chemical knowledge and appreciation of laboratory practices.
21. A clear understanding of HSE principles and practice and commitment to safe working
22. Ideally be available 5 days per week.
