Introduction: Currawong has an almost 20 year history as a designer and manufacturer of premium products for uncrewed aerial vehicles. It has repeat customers located around the world including the US, Canada, Italy, UK, Switzerland, Japan and Vietnam. Located 15 minutes south of Hobart, Currawong has an engine test and assembly facility, machine shop and an electronics assembly facility.
In this role you will support the Finance Manager by completing the fortnightly payroll, monitoring compliance with Award and NES conditions, issuing customer invoices, following up overdue invoices and lodging Currawong's Activity Statements. You will liaise with the Purchasing, Stock Control & Logistics Officer regarding the correct entry of supplier bills in Xero.
You are an experienced professional with a keen eye for numbers and detail. You will understand the need to maintain confidentiality and discretion in this role. There is strong potential for this role to increase to a full-time position with additional responsibilities.
Salary: The salary is dependent on the successful candidate's skillset and degree of experience in similar roles. The indicative range is $68k to $76k (full-time equivalent) plus superannuation.
Key responsibilities: Review staff timesheets, process fortnightly payroll accurately and quarterly superannuation paymentsPrepare employee paperwork such as employment contracts for new employees (based on templates), pay review letters to employees; performance review paperwork, salary sacrifice arrangements etcMaintain schedule for performance reviews, annual pay reviews, end of probation meetings; maintain employee recordsMaintain compliance to applicable Employment Awards and the National Employment Standards, seek external advice where necessary Enter customer invoices into Xero ensuring the correct account allocation, currency and GST type, deduct prepaid deposits where appropriatePrepare customer statements and follow-up unpaid invoices Perform checks on a selection of supplier bills entered into Xero to ensure the correct account allocation and GST type, update documented procedure as needed in conjunction with Currawong's external accountantUpload payments into Australian or US bank account ready for final approval Process monthly payroll tax, complete and lodge monthly IAS and quarterly BAS as per written proceduresReconcile bank transactions, investigate and resolve any discrepanciesPrepare end of financial year information (such as stocktake data) for Currawong's external accountantComplete financial reports as requested (such as employee leave reports, grant expenditure reports etc)Provide support to the Executive Team as requested (such as assistance with recruiting and onboarding new employees, completing internal processes for departing employees etc)Maintain written procedures for finance and payroll tasksOther duties as required Key attributes: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracyRelevant qualifications and/or previous experience in a similar role for a minimum of 2 yearsExperience in interpreting at least one Employment Award and the National Employment Standards would be highly regardedExperience in Xero would be highly regardedExperience in invoicing and interpreting P&L and Balance Sheet reports would be highly regardedIntermediate level Excel or Google Sheets skillsProfessional, courteous, discrete mannerHigh level of organisational skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills Other requirements: A current Tasmanian driving licence is requiredThe successful candidate will need to have a police check Baseline security screening may be required (via the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency).
