Children's and Youth Services Librarian Brunswick
Job Description:
A temporary part-time role at Brunswick Library from March 2025 until November 2025, working 31 hours per fortnight including evening and weekend shifts.
About the Role
The Merri-bek City Council seeks a Children's and Youth Services Librarian to provide high-quality customer service and engage meaningfully with young people.
Key responsibilities include:
* Engaging with the community to provide excellent customer service.
* Delivering early literacy programs and library initiatives to bridge the digital divide.
* Organising children's and youth programs, conducting collection development work, and supervising team members.
* Providing outreach services to schools, kindergartens, daycare centres, and other places where families and young people gather.
Requirements
We are looking for an individual with:
* Strong teamwork, supervisory, and communication skills.
* Demonstrable problem-solving skills and ability to lead, motivate, and coach staff.
* Experience in targeted community-based library programs, information provision, and collection management.
* Fluency in a community language is desirable.
* Eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
* A current Working with Children Check.
