Women's and Children's Health Network, Allied Health and Aboriginal Liaison (AHAL), North Adelaide SA Salary Classification - WHA5 - Health Ancillary Employee L5 - $1,155.00 to $1,166.60 Part Time up to 12-month Contract with the possibility of extension About the Opportunity We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Food Services team as a Diet Kitchen Cook, where you will be responsible for: Follow stock control, storage, usage, and wastage procedures, maintaining appropriate records and statistics. Prepare special diet, allergy, and texture-modified meals according to standard recipes and Dietitian instructions, ensuring accuracy. Collate bulk food production requirements and plan cooking schedules. Complete documentation and records for auditing purposes. Plate meals for delivery with high-quality presentation and adherence to standard serving sizes and portion control. Ensure timely delivery of meals. Prepare, process, label, and store baby diets according to standard procedures and the Food Safety Plan. Maintain a high standard of cleaning and sanitisation, keeping work areas and equipment clean and safe. Handle, operate, and store equipment to minimize losses, breakages, and theft. Operate computer-based systems for labelling and communication. Communicate ideas for quality improvement to Team Leaders or managers. Support and value the roles of other food service areas and the broader organization, adhering to respectful behaviours and guidelines. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Relevant training with a recognised training provider (eg Cert 3 in Community Food Service, Cert 4 in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetics Specialisation, Food Safety training, Qualified Trade Chef) At least 2 years of experience in special diet cooking. Understanding of Occupational Health, Safety, and Welfare policies and procedures and their application in the workplace. Positive attitude towards work and effective teamwork. Strong communication skills with staff at all levels, cultures, and backgrounds. Skilled in preparing, presenting, and serving high-quality meals according to standard procedures and individual instructions. Knowledge of food safety and the use of food safety plans. Excellent organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Flexible work practices and adaptability in changing environments.
