The Public Transport Authority (PTA) in Perth, Western Australia, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Prosecutions Officer to join our Transperth Train Operations Division.
About The Role
This is a rare opportunity to be a key part of the team responsible for managing legal proceedings and ensuring compliance with public transport laws.
As a Prosecutions Officer, you will be responsible for compiling and managing prosecution briefs, coordinating court documents, and representing the PTA in simple matters before the Magistrates and Children’s Courts. This role requires strong attention to detail, legal knowledge, and the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
About You
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
* A strong understanding of court processes, jurisdiction, and legal etiquette.
* Knowledge of relevant PTA-related criminal legislation and legal procedures.
* Experience in compiling prosecution briefs and managing legal documentation.
* The ability to confidently appear in Magistrates and Children’s Courts to prosecute simple criminal matters.
* Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal abilities.
* Good organisational skills with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
* The ability to maintain professionalism and composure when working with difficult customers.
* Availability to meet special requirements, including medical examinations, National Police Clearance, and WA Police integrity checks for Special Constable status and system access.
