The Role
Reporting to the AVP, Corporate Actuarial (Projects & Plan) this role will be involved in Pacific Life Re's financial reporting and actuarial projects in respect of the Australian portion of the Company's in-force business. This includes the reporting of results based on US GAAP, Australian IFRS, LAGIC, Economic Capital and Bermuda Monetary Authority bases. The position will support the AVP, Corporate Actuarial to present information to internal stakeholders and senior management as required.
You will also be involved in a variety of other activities including:
Actuarial reporting and capital management Management reporting New treaty implementation Tyche model development and maintenance Local & divisional actuarial projects including Unify (global back-office transformation project) The individual would also work closely with other functions within the Australian Protection team including finance, operations, pricing, and research & development areas and other global teams.
Duties
Quarterly valuations for PL Re's Australia business, including analysis and communication of results (and the drivers behind those results) to the Appointed Actuary and senior management. This also includes updates to the valuation basis. Quarterly reporting of VNB and other key management information metrics. Ensure the continual development and improvement of the actuarial reporting processes. Provide support for Project Unify (division-wide back-office process transformation project), Project Harmony (division-wide project to develop global assumption management system) and other ad-hoc support to actuarial project work. Support for capital management processes including annual calibration of internal target surplus and support the update of key annual actuarial reports including the ICAAP, AVR and FCR. Implementation of new treaties including working with pricing and operations to promptly incorporate new data and information into actuarial valuation and reporting systems. Provide ad-hoc support to Tyche model development and maintenance and other ad-hoc BAU work. Qualifications & Experience
Industry Knowledge Good understanding of the life insurance industry, preferably in respect of risk products in Australia Technical Expertise Qualified Actuary (FIAA or equivalent) Excellent technical actuarial and analytical skills Ability to independently develop and implement new methodologies Proficient with software packages, such as Excel and Word Experience with actuarial modelling software, e.g. Prophet, MoSes or Tyche Personal Skills Organised, deadline focused and have good analytical skills Skilled at managing stakeholders across teams and geographies Ability to communicate both verbally and written with senior management and business customers at all levels across the business Thinks for themselves, will challenge status quo Capability to manage competing demands and deal with non-standard and unstructured requests, at short notice Working For Pacific Life Re
