We seek motivated and experienced café workers with good food preparation and barista skills to join our team. Kinross Café is part of an exciting new outreach venture being launched by the church. Open from 7.30am to 2.30pm on weekdays (excluding public holidays), our mission is to provide a welcoming and inclusive café space for the community, particularly for our older clientele, focusing on hospitality and connection.Although these are casual positions, there are opportunities for additional casual work on the church campus, including assisting with functions and catering, weddings and funerals, and providing support in the church office during staff holidays.Key Responsibilities:Prepare Coffee & Beverages: Make a range of espresso-based drinks (e.g., lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites), teas, and other beverages to a high standard.Food Preparation: Prepare and arrange light meals, such as sandwiches, salads, and baked goods, ensuring food is served fresh and to a high standard.Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, making them feel welcome and valued. Provide thoughtful, patient service, particularly for our older guests.Cleaning Duties: Maintain cleanliness throughout the café, including cleaning coffee machines, workstations, and seating areas, as well as dishwashing and general tidying.Operate POS System: Process payments accurately and efficiently using the café's point-of-sale system.Stock Management: Monitor and replenish inventory, including coffee beans, milk, and other supplies as needed.Teamwork: Work collaboratively with the café team to ensure smooth daily operations and customer satisfaction.Adhere to Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety regulations, including food handling and hygiene practices.Additional Work Opportunities: Assist with weddings and funerals on the church grounds and provide support in the church office when staff are on holiday.Key Requirements:Experience: You must have experience working in a café or similar hospitality environment.Barista Skills: Experience in coffee making, with a strong understanding of espresso extraction, milk texturing techniques, and the ability to make latte art, would be useful.Customer Service: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on providing excellent service, particularly with an understanding of older people’s needs and expectations.Food Handling: Basic knowledge of food preparation and presentation and understanding of food safety practices.Multitasking Ability: Able to handle busy periods while maintaining attention to detail and high service standards.Work Ethic: Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.Flexibility: Available to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, public holidays, and for events such as weddings and funerals.Hygiene: Understanding of food safety standards and café cleanliness procedures.Desirable:Experience with food preparation or basic cooking.Certification in food safety or barista training (preferred but not required).Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience.Friendly and supportive team environment.Opportunity to grow within the business.Additional work opportunities within the church campus.Terms and conditions of employment:The terms and conditions of your employment are covered by the Restaurant Industry Award 2020 (MA000119).
