Experienced Planner is sort after to take a lead role within the Planning department of a municipality located 2 hours north of Melbourne.12-month Contract - possibility of perm or further extension $70-$80 p/h plus super 3 days in office/2 days from home Band 7 Strong technical skills Development Contribution Plans Managing Prelim reports PSP's Overseeing other consultants Minor Amendments ATS system experience Start ASAP KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS Lead the preparation of strategic planning projects to formalise and implement the new growth fronts into the Planning Scheme, including the development and review of local structure plans, PSP's, DCP's, development plans, development guidelines, studies, local policies, and other strategic and statutory plans of Council in accordance with relevant acts, regulations, legislation and standards, and sound project management principles: delivering projects within agreed quality standards, timelines and budgets.Develop and maintain ongoing relationships and networks within the community, internal and external stakeholders, industry and other government agencies.Promote community awareness of, and participation in, the development of strategic planning policies which advance Council's objectives for future development of the municipality, which will include meeting with various stakeholders such as aggrieved neighbours, special interest groups and neighbours of proposed developments to inform and facilitate equitable outcomes.Appoint consultants and contractors to undertake or assist with nominated projects and ensure they are engaged and managed in an accountable and professional manner that provides value for money in accordance with Council's procurement policy.Assess, process and approve planning and subdivision applications in accordance with the Planning and Environment Act 1987, the Subdivision Act 1988, the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme and Council policies, particularly where they relate to a combined planning scheme amendment and permit application.Represent Council at tribunals, hearings, panels, public meetings, forums and seminars (as required) and conduct formal public consultation as necessary for planning scheme amendments, advocacy on key infrastructure projects or related matters.Prepare effective development contributions plans by ensuring the estimated costs and apportionments associated with these plans do not place Council at any financial disadvantage.Provide support and assistance to the Team Leader Strategic Planning, the Manager Building, Planning and Compliance and participate effectively as a Strategic Planning team member.Ensure that all resources within the incumbent's control are utilised as efficiently and effectively as possible.If you would like to discuss this role in more detail or other Planning opportunities within Local Government, please contact Kyla Nash on 0423 419 396 or send an email to ****** Alternatively you can apply by using the link below.All communication will be strictly confidential.Please check our website for further opportunities, apply for job alerts or to refer a friend.www.aspectpersonnel.com.au
