Nurse Unit Manager - High Dependency UnitApply now Job no: 501799 Work type: Permanent Location: Mackay Categories: NUM/MUM About the role An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly experienced Nurse Unit Manager with strong leadership skills to join the Mater Private Hospital Mackay within the High Dependency Ward.This will be a permanent full-time position 0.5 FTE management and 0.5 FTE clinical. As the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), you will provide operational/clinical management and leadership to the unit and provide a professional line management responsibility to nurses in the organisation.As the leader of this team, you will provide exceptional nursing management and be responsible for the clinical, resource management, education, and research accountabilities of nursing within our Medical Ward.Additionally, you will ensure the provision of best practice, quality, and safety aspects of patient care.Responsibilities: Provide operational/clinical management and leadership to the HDU in partnership with nursing, medical, allied health, and administrative teamsIdentifying and implementing opportunities for clinical service development and improvement in collaboration with the Patient Care Manager and General ManagerAchieve optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care across Mater HealthMaintain current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growthDeveloping, improving, and monitoring systems and processes to ensure service is managed effectively and efficientlyProfessional line management of the nursing teamLeading by example to provide high-level clinical care for our patientsUtilising expert-level communication strategies to guide the team in achieving the unit's goalsThis role will see you managing an established team with a great mix of new graduates and highly experienced nursing staff, so you will need the ability to work with a diverse range of people.About you Your highly developed clinical and management leadership skills will see you leading the team, and your drive and innovative approach will see you further developing the models of care to improve the experience and outcomes for patients.Minimum Requirements: 5 years post-graduate specialty nursing experience, preferable in the unit's specialtiesCurrent AHPRA nursing registration with no restrictionsSolid understanding of private health careProven use of exceptional communication skills to motivate and lead a team to achieve goalsStrong change management skills and influencing/negotiating experienceDemonstrated competence in cost centre managementWillingness to role model and promote the Mater valuesApplications close on 6th November 2024.
