As a Network Engineer within the Broadcast Engineering team, you will be responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining the network infrastructure that supports Optus Sport's live production workflows and digital content delivery.
The role focuses on ensuring high reliability, minimal downtime, and flawless connectivity across broadcast systems while adhering to industry standards and new technologies.
You will play a key role in strategic projects, ensuring the network can support high-quality live transmission and video content delivery across various platforms.
The role also involves collaborating across teams to manage and implement tier-2 firewall and network changes, working closely with the infosec team to validate and implement updates.
This position requires strong technical expertise in networking, a deep understanding of industry trends, and the ability to work within a small but highly skilled team, balancing multiple priorities effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement robust network solutions tailored for broadcast and production environments.
* Configure, test, and maintain broadcast-specific IP networks and associated hardware, ensuring redundancy and high availability of critical broadcast systems.
* Manage the integration of broadcast equipment with network infrastructure.
* Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues affecting live broadcasts, streaming, or file transfers.
* Monitor and maintain Quality of Service (QoS) for audio, video, and data transmissions.
* Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth transmission of live events and scheduled programming.
* Provide technical support during live broadcasts and assist with system recoveries in case of failures.
* Work closely with IT and engineering teams to align broadcast and corporate network infrastructures.
* Implement cybersecurity measures to protect networked broadcast systems from potential threats.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and company policies.
* Regularly update firmware, software, and hardware to maintain system security and efficiency.
* Stay knowledgeable about emerging technologies, industry standards, and recommended approaches.
* Conduct research to identify innovative solutions that can enhance operational effectiveness.
* Address and resolve complex technical issues related to broadcast systems, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient performance.
* Build and update documentation, such as system diagrams, technical specifications, and operational procedures, to support information exchange and assist in system maintenance.
