Role Overview
The role of a Partner is to provide accurate, timely and professional legal advice and assistance to our clients, while contributing to the firm’s overall objectives and success – both from a business development and firm focussed perspective. The Partner must have a transferable practice.
Flexibility
Our client reserves the right to reasonably amend the position description as the role and firm evolves, to reflect the job being performed, and the right to make reasonable requests to undertake additional duties that may be required to be performed beyond which is outlined within this description.
Roles & Responsibilities
Major Responsibilities
* For Partners, a minimum transportable fee base of $500k
* A successful track record in and a deep understanding of IP law (i.e. across trademarks, copyright, data - (breach/ownership), privacy, brand protection, disputes, infringements, licensing etc)
* Proven leadership, be a team player and able to supervise, train and mentor junior lawyers.
* positive attitude, be solutions-focused and see “the bigger picture"
* Comply with firm requirements regarding file opening, file management (including keeping all cost estimates up to date), billing and other necessary reporting, and file closing.
Practice Development
* Actively seek potential new business opportunities, through networking functions, attendance at seminars and other sources.
* Develop and strengthen existing business relationships with clients and contacts.
* Participate in and contribute to business development events and initiatives run by your practice group and the organisation.
Professional Development
* Keep up to date with respect to any developments and changes to relevant law and legislation.
* Undertake continuing legal education by way of, for example, reading, attending seminars and further study if necessary.
* Attend and participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminars and sessions.
Time Management
* Attend work on time.
* Comply with time recording expectations.
People Management
* Work in a co-operative and respectful manner with your legal assistant, other lawyers and all staff members.
* Act as a role model and lead by example.
* Consistently uphold the organisations values.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
* Appropriate file management – including maintenance of up to date cost estimates and preparation of bills in a timely manner.
* Compliance with service standards – including following all requirements regarding return of calls and other communications.
* Meet billable hour and business development requirements.
Health & Safety

* Admitted as a lawyer (and appropriate legal qualifications)
* Experience across the full spectrum of intellectual property matters
* Exposure to debt capital markets and securitisation advantageous
* Advanced drafting skills
* Ability to mentor junior lawyer and law clerks
