The RoleJoint Proof and Experimental Unit (JPEU) Test Officers work within the Environmental Test Facility (ETF) supporting guided weapon and explosive ordnance (GWEO) tests.JPEU is seeking dynamic and motivated individuals to take on the role of Test Officer within the ETF. The ETF conducts non-destructive test and evaluation trials on explosive platforms, munitions and other equipment across a range of environmental specialities. These specialities include climatic (simulated weather), radiographic (x-ray), shock and vibration (shake and rattle).Environmental Test Officers, under the guidance of their discipline Specialists and Team Leaders, support the set up and safe operation of equipment required to undertake testing activities. An internal engineering team and the wider JPEU engineering team support the ETF.Test Officers will support environmental test programs and plans by establishing test areas and platforms, coordinating test programs, collecting test data, refurbishing work areas and undertaking non-technical inspection and maintenance of equipment.About our TeamThe ETF is comprised of a variety of small teams, directed by the Chief Environmental Test and his trials management team. These teams include radiography, vibration and climatic.ETF personnel work within their respective teams to deliver quality outcomes for Defence and its customers. This can include the teams having to handle energetics, explosives and munitions. Each team works with exciting technology that aids in the provision of test outcomes.Employment at Port Wakefield includes a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance, $309.85 respectively per fortnight.Our Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will work within a dynamic and integrated environment of Australian Public Servants, Australian Defence Force personnel and Defence Industry Support Personnel.They will demonstrate abilities to interpret task requirements, technical standards, follow set work procedures, produce trial activity reports and utilise technical and non-technical equipment to capture required data. They will be detail oriented, and be able to identify potential issues within the data/test setup that may affect quality of data or accuracy of data for items being tested.The successful candidate will be able to work on an explosive ordnance test range, assisting in the construction of test and evaluation platforms. They will be an excellent communicator, able to identify and initiate improvements to existing work procedures.The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of JPEU, to achieve business outcomes.Security ClearanceApplicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Baseline Vetting” level.Mandatory QualificationsThis technical position requires the individual to have obtained a recognised Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 4 qualification in a relevant technical domain or relevant skills and work experience such that an individual can reasonably achieve a recognised AQF qualification if required by the position.The key duties of the position include:
